EXHIBITION: KOICHIRO TAKAGI OPENING RECEPTION

Takagi has been active as a painter, participating in exhibitions and group shows in Japan and abroad. He has also designed and collaborated with many apparel brands such as UNIQLO, Zucca, BEAMS, PORTER, and Paul Smith.  Takagi’s works have a wide range of styles. Often his motifs are of animals or anamorphs; sometimes cute, sometimes with pointed fangs glaring straight back to the viewer. There is a sense of anonymity and mystery inherent in his work, which creates a strange uneasiness. Although Takagi’s works often describe the feelings of people who waver and the contradictions they face, they express the existence of a utopia that doesn’t exist but its subjects want to believe in.
