About:

Luke George examines the dynamics of intimacy and collectivity to create safe spaces that allow for care as well as risk. With a multidisciplinary practice incorporating performance, installation, craft, curation and rope, they show how individuals can take responsibility for themselves and each other.

The Substation is a genre-defying arts venue in Naarm/Melbourne, amplifying artworks that transcend form. Their multi-artform spaces are illuminated with the most urgent contemporary arts to inspire us to refigure problematic histories, imagine possible futures, and forge new connections. The Substation is the nation’s leader in multi-arts and experimental practice. They connect our continent’s most diverse communities in Naarm/Melbourne’s west to the world through a program of international, national, and local presentation, development, and engagement opportunities.

Ace Artist in Residence program, curated in partnership with collectives and institutions that inspire us, provides time to think and space to create. Every quarter, we invite artists across the globe to turn one of our hotel rooms into their studio for a month, then showcase the resulting body of work with the Ace community.
