This week’s live performance is by Harriet Brown
About: Harriet Brown is an artist, producer, songwriter and DJ based in Los Angeles, originally from the Bay Area, CA. He originally moved to LA in 2014 to release his first EP New Era on the small tape label Feel So Real, before going on to release two full-length albums – Contact (2017) and Mall of Fortune (2019) – through independent label Innovative Leisure. He has also been a resident host on NTS Radio since 2016, with his own monthly show, “All About Our Love”. After a bit of a hiatus, 2023 brought the self-release of two EPs: Future Twang – a swift collection of five songs meant to embody the sound of a Sci-fi Vampire Western – and Sedimental – four hushed songs that blend the soul of Quiet Storm-era Smokey Robinson with textures a la Cocteau Twins’ Victorialand and early Bill Frisell. Now, in 2024, he is gearing up to release a new full-length album, tapping into his alternative roots and embracing a heavier, darker sound, beginning with the singles “Rubber” and “Vomit”.
