Ace Hotel & Swim Club has partnered with No)one. Art House to co-curate a lineup of artists led by Chris Emile for Ace Hotel A!R Program. We are happy to welcome our third Artist is Residence, Jordan Slaffey.
Sadferociousjoy is a journey about taking action with forgiveness. The act of forgiving a lover, being forgiven by loved ones, and the struggle to tackle forgiveness at its hardest points in life. This journey is based on her own personal experiences dealing with forgiveness throughout my life. She hopes this piece can bring healing and light to every individual in the audience, whether or not they are willing to forgive, have already forgiven, or are still in the process of healing to reach that final point of forgiveness.
Catch her performance of Sadferociousjoy on January 31.

Jordan Slaffey, an Orange County/ LA native, has been dancing since the tender age of five. As a young adult, she discovered a deep interest in modern dance under the great Karen McDonald and, as she grew, fell in love with Hip-Hop, House, and other urban styles. Her training uncovered a unique ability to hear music in different, unorthodox ways, and she found a passion for improvisational movement as she explored multiple forms of dance. Her goal is to bring experimental hip-hop movement, combined with a layer of contemporary and modern undertones, to the forefront of the artistic community and the world en masse. Apart from dance, her love of music has inspired her to incorporate vocal performance in tandem. She aspires to use her combination of talents to create immersive experiences that can one day change the trajectory of art itself.
Ace Hotel A!R Program is the embodiment of our deep conviction that artists deliver us a critical lens through which to understand the world and ourselves. On a quarterly basis, and curated in partnership with creative
collectives and art institutions that inspire us, we invite artists across the globe to turn one of our hotel rooms into their studio for a month. Given time and space to create, the artist’s resultant body of work is then exhibited at Ace and shared with the public.
Since the inception of the Artist In Residence program in 2014, participants have included Antonia Kuo, Rashaad Newsome, Alexander Chee, Jason Polan, Ocean Vuong, Cali Thornhill DeWitt, William Powhida, Jia Tolentino, Christian Joy, Doreen St. Felix, Nick Zinner, Saeed Jones, Elif Batuman, Tyehimba Jess and Kandis Williams.
