Slow Series: Crochet your Snack with Kiki Aranita

  • 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm | Wednesday April 10, 2024
  • Ace Suite | Ace Hotel New York

Learn to freehand crochet and create 3D fiber art at a Slow Series class led by acclaimed Fiber artist, Kiki Aranita

Aranita will demonstrate her signature style of layering stitches to create volume and build 3D nostalgic foods and snacks. Core to her artistic philosophy, attendees will learn sustainable ways to use up scraps of yarn in this process.

The class:

  • Attendees will first work on technique before starting to crochet their snack design.
  • Open to all – beginners > intermediate.
  • The ticket price includes materials and tools but we encourage attendees to bring scrap yarn with them if they have any!

About – Kiki Aranita is a chef, food writer, fiber artist, sauce entrepreneur, and recipe developer. These career paths exist simultaneously and are tied together by the same themes: nostalgia (particularly when it comes to the food of Kiki’s hometowns of Honolulu and Hong Kong) and care for the ocean. As a chef, she specializes in Hawai’i’s fresh fish dishes and low waste cooking, and as a fiber artist, she uses primarily scrap yarn, in a small effort to keep micro-plastics out of our waterways.
