New hotel guidelines and requirements in accordance with the City of Toronto
As of Saturday, June 11, the Province of Ontario has updated some of the provincial masking requirements put in place in response to COVID-19. In some settings, the Province, City and/or individual operators continue to require masks. Check with individual organizations to learn more about their policies.
The following masking requirements are in place in Toronto. Even when not required, Toronto Public Health strongly recommends continued masking, especially in crowded indoor public settings.
| Long-term care and retirement homes |
Masks are mandatory in all long-term-care and retirement homes, including the City-operated long-term care homes. |
| Shelters |
Masks are mandatory in shelters, 24-hour respite and 24-hour women’s drop-in sites. |
| TTC Wheel-Trans |
Masks are mandatory for customers and employees using TTC’s Wheel-Trans. |
| Public transit |
Masks are not mandatory on the TTC, GO Transit, UP Express, and City-operated ferries.
Masks continue to be mandatory on TTC’s Wheel-Trans.
The TTC and GO Transit are strongly recommending customers continue to wear masks while on vehicles and in stations. |
| Hospitals and other healthcare settings |
Many hospitals and healthcare settings in Toronto have mask policies in place. Please check with the hospital or healthcare facility you are going to for their masking requirements. |
Public Health Guidance Continues
TPH strongly recommends wearing a well-fitting, high quality mask, especially in crowded indoor public settings. All people in Toronto should still follow all public health guidance to protect reopening progress. The latest guidance from Toronto Public Health is available in the COVID-19: Reduce Virus Spread Guide. Anyone who is eligible and has not gotten vaccinated against COVID-19, including a booster dose, is urged to get vaccinated as soon as possible.
