THURSDAYS WITH RAZOR-N-TAPE
- 7:00 pm - 12:00 am | Thursday August 03, 2023
- The Lobby | Ace Hotel Brooklyn
Every Thursday this Summer, Razor-N-Tape curates the line-up. This week, they invite Daisybelle.
Puerto Rican born and bred, Daisybelle is the daughter of latin musicians. A childhood dusted with music and melodies, rhythm and records, sparked a desire to follow her own path in music. A passionate vinyl DJ, her collection spans countless continents, genres and eras with a flare for soulful worldly sounds and reaches deep into house and Detroit techno. Multiple releases on legendary NYC label Nervous Records, and London’s Future Disco stand at the forefront of her production discography. Upcoming releases this summer will include new music with Nervous Records, and an EP on Italian imprint Rebirth Records. Daisybelle has shared bills on line-ups with legends such as Mr.G, Honey Dijon, The Martinez Brothers, Sasha, and MCDE across historic clubs like fabric, Ministry of Sound & Pikes Ibiza. This summer will see her make her debut at Lost Village festival (UK), Electric Castle (Romania), and Westival (Wales). Now based in London you can catch her radio shows via Defected Records with fellow DJ Carly Foxx. The pair also co-hosts their own club night called “Only Fans House Party”.

Razor-N-Tape is a Brooklyn-based independent record label, brand, and DJ alias of co-owners JKriv and Aaron Dae. Brought together out of a mutual love of all things groovy, the pair founded their eponymous record label in 2012, building a nearly 100-release-deep catalog over the past 9 years that has helped shape the sound of modern NYC disco.
Originally launched as a home for unreleased reworks that had been mainstays of the duo’s DJ sets, Razor-N-Tape white label boasts releases from revered editors such as Dimitri from Brooklyn (aka Paris), Danny Krivit, Eli Escobar, Al Kent and many more, and has established the label as the gold standard for quality output in the edit game. RNT’s expansion to include their Razor-N-Tape Reserve and RNT45 imprints saw new forays into sampled house, downtempo, and global soul with offerings from Don Carlos, Felipe Gordon, The Juan MacLean, Black Science Orchestra, COEO, Jungle Fire and many more.
Now celebrating their milestone 10 year anniversary, the focus has shifted primarily to original music and artist development. Stunning projects like the recent modern Brazilian jazz-funk LP “Palago,” buy artist Guinu, Midnight Magic “Beam Me Up Remixed,” BaianaSystem “Agua Remixes,” and Elia y Elizabeth “Remixes de Oro” releases have brought new depth to the catalog and remix contributions from Prins Thomas, Jimpster, Kim Ann Foxman. With all-original album and EP projects from JKriv, Underground System, Felipe Gordon, and more on the way, Razor-N-Tape is making their mark on the dance scene and beyond as purveyors of exceptional new original sounds.
JKriv and Aaron are both DJs in their own right, and together as Razor-N-Tape their approach is an effortless blend of old and new, sequenced and mixed with expertise and a signature feel-good style, whether in the club or broadcast. From Aaron’s deep roots in NYC’s club and rave scene of the 1990s, to JKriv’s musical foundation both as a producer and guitarist/bassist in the bands Escort and Tortured Soul, the pair amalgamates a huge breadth of musical knowledge, a shared sense of curation, and an abiding love of the party!

With this seminal exhibition, Tomorrow’s Garden, we glimpse through a keyhole. Behind the door is an imagined, futuristic world where the overuse of plastic melted into nature and created new species of bioplastic lifeforms. An enchanted oyster lies in the ocean with aquatic creatures and flora. A hanging abstract, bioplastic jellyfish illuminates an underwater world, a forest where hybrid amphibians and fairies tend to the changed planet. Caroline questions what the future can look like in a world where nature…
