Curated by CreateART – the multidisciplinary performance and residency platform connecting artists and audiences in diverse venues in NYC. We exist to offer visibility, support and amplification for the voices of emerging artists.
Albert Andrew Garcia is an artist and a writer with a background in performance theory and creative writing. His practice spans across live performance, video, and installation. Garcia is known for his live audio-visual performances in collaboration with musicians such as Daniel De Jesus, and performance and visual artists such as Natalie Deryn Johnson and David Antonio Cruz.
Haus of PVMNT began in 2018 as strictly movement-based performance creation. Our performance creation has always been committed to challenging social climates, both past, and present, from our queer perspectives as Generation Z artists. In addition to our performance creation, we have expanded our vision for what PVMNT can be: an intersectional curatorial practice. Haus of PVMNT is a place where you can come to discover an illumination of life & art through the work, thoughts, dialogue & collaboration between artists across all disciplines & mediums. Discover not only in-haus projects, but also the work of artists everywhere through our guest-haus platform. Our dream for PVMNT has always existed beyond the proscenium stage, ideals of performance, and the singularity of dance. We are thrilled to continue improving // expanding this vehicle for community building, interdisciplinary collaboration, and education.
Mallory Gracenin is a Brooklyn based actor, writer and producer. She is a rotating writer and host for The McKittrick Follies at The McKittrick Hotel, home of Sleep No More where she played various roles. Recently, she played the flirtatious Willa in Eschaton and was the artistic advisor for the show. She has performed in several projects for The Future of Storytelling, Comic Con and The Virtual Arcade at Tribeca Film Festival. Her virtual solo show Closet Cabaret was recently featured in Lonely Planet. She trained at The Maggie Flanigan Studio and The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts.
Stephen Galberth is an interdisciplinary artist from Washington, D.C. In 2019 Galberth was awarded the CHiRP Residency at the County Prep Theater to produce an evening of work. This allowed him to create theLAB by Artists of Color, a platform for artists to share their stories in our own voices. Stephen’s recent credits include Movement Coaching for The Public Theater Shakespeare Initiative, producing two short films, dancing for AntonioBrownDance, and collaborating with artists here in NYC.
Two in Seven Billion is a NYC-based physical dance theater company founded by emerging choreographers Alex Schmidt and Jessica Eckardt in 2019. Alex and Jessica met in the Alonzo King LINES Ballet training program where they graduated from in 2017, and then moved to New York City shortly after. The company premiered their first evening length ‘TWO IN SEVEN BILLION’ to sold out audiences in December of 2019. The company has taught their movement in pop up classes and intensives throughout the city and for other companies such as MICHIYAYA Dance, mignolo dance, Valleto Dance, and moveDIPR. They also created their first film, ‘MERDE’, in December 2020. TWO IN SEVEN BILLION is currently working on a new evening length work to premiere later this year. TWO IN SEVEN BILLION will also be performing and teaching in a west coast tour with other local artists in Spring of 2022.
This is a free event but seated is limited, RSVP and proof of vaccination are mandatory. This ensures a safe, socially-distanced experience, and seated guests will be able to enjoy a cocktail whilst enjoying the art. With this seminal exhibition, Tomorrow’s Garden, we glimpse through a keyhole. Behind the door is an imagined, futuristic world where the overuse of plastic melted into nature and created new species of bioplastic lifeforms. An enchanted oyster lies in the ocean with aquatic creatures and flora. A hanging abstract, bioplastic jellyfish illuminates an underwater world, a forest where hybrid amphibians and fairies tend to the changed planet. Caroline questions what the future can look like in a world where nature…
