Ace Artist in Residence with Lina Sun Park
- 8:00 am - 11:00 pm | Thursday November 21, 2024
- A!R | Ace Hotel Brooklyn
- 252 SCHERMERHORN Street
Meet our new resident artist, Lina Sun Park. Combining textiles with items of personal significance and perishables, her work balances the quotidian and the fantastical to otherworldly effect. During her November residency, Park will work on an installation in which cloth, ribbons and bread aren’t quite what they seem. This residency is a part of our year-long partnership with Byline。
Join us for the opening event on December 11th, 7-9pm.
The exhibition will be on view December 2024–February 2025.
About –
Lina Sun Park, a multidisciplinary artist living in New York, intervenes in everyday objects to create magical miniature scenes. Combining textiles like lace and ribbon with items of personal significance and perishables like fruit, bread, cheese, her work balances the quotidian and the fantastical to otherworldly effect.
Byline, the culture magazine at the forefront of new media in New York, was conceived of as a place for contributors to be themselves. It was founded in 2023 by editors Gutes Guterman and Megan O’Sullivan, who have chosen the theme “art as play” for their curatorial throughline, presenting four artists for their insights into this paradox of pleasure and productivity.
Ace Artist in Residence program, curated in partnership with collectives and institutions that inspire us, provides time to think and space to create. Every quarter, we invite artists across the globe to turn one of our hotel rooms into their studio for a month, then showcase the resulting body of work with the Ace community.
